Title: Big Wheels
Back several years ago when the Union Pacific steam locomotive 844 pulled the Cheyenne Frontier Days Denver Post special from Denver to Cheyenne for the Frontiers Day rodeo the Union Pacific Railroad would park 844 at Denver’s Union Station. Union Pacific steam locomotive 844 has never been retired since it was built in 1944. A high speed passenger engine, it pulled widely known trains as the Overland limited, Los Angeles Limited, Portland Rose and Challenger.
It was late in the afternoon at Denver's Union Station when I was walking around the locomotive getting my pictures when I noticed that the colors from the armored yellow passenger cars were reflecting onto the drive wheels of Union Pacific steam locomotive 844 that was parked next to the armored yellow passenger cars. The reflecting colors lasted for quite sometime resulting in some fantastic photos.
This photo called Big Wheels was my favorite photographs that I took on this colorful occasion.
A couple of years later Union Pacific Railroad started parking steam engine 844 and the whole train on one track instead of the passenger cars next to 844 on separate tracks at Union Station. Since the accident in 2018 the Union Pacific has not ran a Frontier Days special since. But who know maybe BIG Boy 4014 will do the honors someday.
This is an example of when you see that shot get it because it might not happen again. This is the an example of the photograph BIG Wheels
