Rio Grande Scenic Railroad started operations in 2006 operating tourist passenger trains from Alamosa to La Veta Colorado on the original track that was operated by the Rio Grande Railroad. Steam locomotives pulled the passenger trains on the line from 2006 til around 2010. Now diesels operate the passenger trains to La Veta. The railroad operates very popular country western concert trains in the Summer. As of 2022 the railroad is going through a bankrupt court and no longer operates as a railroad. I feel very lucky to have photographed this incredible railroad when I did.
